Well, theres been quite a few Lotus videos recently so I thought I better show you that I still have the weird spotted creature that calls himself a Appaloosa! Haha. Hes been in a light work for quite a while now, and hasnt really done anything since before Christmas. We thought this break would be good for him as hes only a baby still and I dont think continous work is good for a youngster, so hes had a little time just hacking to grow and mature. And I think its really going to pay off...out hacking he is so full of himself, and hes just enjoying life really. In half term were going to start taking him out again but I think Im just going to concentrate on flatwork for a while before we jump again. Took him in a field yesterday and just played around and managed some walk to canter and I want to perfect that and flying changes, leg yielding etc so that when we come round to jumping again were foot perfect. Also cause I want to do some one day events on him so we need to practise our dressage :P xxMy first attempts at leg yielding.some early attempts at leg yielding, also with a bit of ZipperAn unusually warm day in November. Here we are trotting on a loose rein, leg yielding (for only the second time at the trot), and cantering. Hoping 2010 will bring nice weather, more progress, and a better camera that can take more than 2 minutes of video! Chunky will be for sale in the spring. Hes 12 years old and 14.2 hands. Obviously he has a chunky build so he can accommodate a petite to medium sized rider easily (Im 54 and 135 lbs.) Not spooky at all undersaddle, but can be nervous about having things done to him on the ground (like farrier/vet) but hes improving. Easy keeper, goes barefoot. Loads easily and behaves well at shows. Ive been working on basic dressage. He might also make a good eventing pony. Hes forward undersaddle yet has sensitive brakes, he will slow down and stop promptly from seat alone. I think this was really a good thing for him (: Hes enjoying himself and now hes much calmer out there... =P Its him and another horse in an acre pasture.
